Our newest hydrosol was steam-distilled from fresh, hand-harvested Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) growing wild in my pollinator garden at the height of summer bloom. Distilled the same day it was picked, this seasonal hydrosol carries the vibrant, herbaceous energy of the plant: balancing, cooling, and calming.
Scent: warm and clove-like, with subtle hints of citrus and mint
Tulsi offers:
- Balancing for oily & blemish-prone skin: Naturally astringent, helps regulate excess oil and keep pores clear, & may help reduce the appearance of acne or skin congestion.
- Calms redness, soothes irritation, and supports sensitive skin.
- Helps protect skin from environmental stressors and supports a healthy glow.
- Cooling & refreshing, ideal for summer skin or after sun exposure
How to Use
Mist onto clean skin before applying serum or moisturizer, or anytime your skin needs a boost. Can also be used to set makeup, refresh skin throughout the day, as a cooling after-sun spray, or as a mood enhancer.

In Ayurveda, Tulsi (Holy Basil) is revered as the “Queen of Herbs” and honored in daily rituals for its ability to restore balance and vitality. Its Sanskrit name, tulasī (तुलसी), meaning “incomparable” or “peerless,” reflects the high esteem in which it’s held. With a fresh, green, and slightly spicy aroma, Tulsi is both grounding and uplifting, easing mental fatigue, clearing the mind, and encouraging a calm, focused energy.
Preserved with a plant-based ferment for freshness and safety.

This bottle holds a piece of summer - grown in my pollinator garden, harvested in full bloom, and distilled slowly in a copper still over several hours. It’s a once-per-season distillation, and each bottle is part of that fleeting moment. That’s why it’s priced a little differently: it carries the weight of the work, and the gift of the bloom.

Without Preservatives
Formulation
All HANDS products are anhydrous, meaning they are made without water. This allows formulations to be made without preservatives, emulsifiers or thickeners. As a result, these products may be a thicker/less watery consistency than commercial products you with which you are accustomed. This also allows the active botanicals to be more available to your skin, and presents the cleanest formulas possible. As a result, extra care also needs to be taken to not allow water to enter the jar.
