If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you may have noticed that I talk about skincare differently than many brands do.
You won't often hear me use buzzwords, sweeping promises, or bold claims about what my products can “do” to your skin.
There’s a reason for that, several, actually.
1. Most skincare marketing uses medical language… without saying it.
The beauty industry is full of phrases like:
• stimulates collagen
• promotes cellular turnover
• treats inflammation
• reduces wrinkles
• anti-aging
• strengthens the barrier
• increases circulation
• detoxifies
These words are everywhere… but they’re not actually permitted for cosmetics.
Under FDA law, any claim that suggests a product changes the structure or biological function of the skin is considered a drug claim — not a cosmetic claim. And that distinction matters.
Cosmetics can support, condition, soften, hydrate, soothe, and nourish.
They cannot treat, repair, correct, or regenerate.
So when I choose not to use those words, it’s not because the plants I work with aren’t powerful. They are.
It’s because I want to hold myself to a standard of truth, integrity, and legality, and I want you to know exactly what you’re getting.
2. Skincare marketing is shaping unrealistic expectations.
When every product promises transformation, correction, or reversal, it becomes easy to believe that skincare should be able to do those things.
But skincare is only one small part of skin health.
Your skin already has its own internal processes for renewal, resilience, and regulation.
Skincare can support those natural rhythms, not override them.
3. Ingredient quality is often disguised behind complicated language.
It’s not just claims that mislead, it’s the way ingredients are presented.
Sometimes simple ingredients are marketed with grandiose names.
Sometimes basic formulas are dressed up with complex scientific branding.
Sometimes words like “stem cells,” “biotechnology,” or “longevity systems” make a product sound like a medical device rather than a moisturizer.
I don’t believe in that approach.
4. My work is intentionally different.
Here’s what you will always get from my formulas:
• Intentional simplicity to avoid overwhelming the skin
• Ethically sourced plants grown with care, not hype
• Time-tested botanicals backed by practical science
• Slow, careful preparation methods that honor tradition
• A philosophy that trusts the skin’s own intelligence
I don’t make skincare to “fix” you.
I make skincare to support you.
Because your skin is not broken.
It’s not failing.
It doesn’t need to be re-engineered.
It deserves honesty, clarity, and gentle, grounded care.
If you ever have questions…
If you’re ever unsure about an ingredient, a claim, or a product - mine or anyone else’s - you can always reach out.
I’m happy to give you the simple, direct truth.
With care,
Wendy
